Bokonebophirima ready for National Indigenous Games Festival
The division of Sport and Recreation in the North West Department of Education and Sport Development hosted Provincial Indigenous Games on Saturday, 5 August 2017. All participants from the four districts of North West Province embarked on a battle to reclaim the victory by representing their district in the Provincial Indigenous Games. The games played at Brits Sports Complex at Brits Bojanala district.
The objective of the Indigenous Games is to provide sustainable mass participation opportunities across the age spectrum, to promote physically active life style and also to form squad that will be representing Bokonebophirima at Seshego Stadium in Polokwane from 24-29 September 2017. The major sporting codes of Indigenous Games were Dibeke, Diketo, Driestokkies, Khokho, Kgati, Intonga, Ncuva, Juskei and Morabaraba. All the participants were motivated and played to their abilities to embrace their culture. Among the dignitaries were representatives of Sport and Recreation South Africa, Madibeng Local municipality, Indigenous Games Provincial Manager: Mr Tshepo Makobo, Assistant Programme Manager: Ms Revelation Masibi and Chef de Mission, Mr Berry Matemane.
The results for the games were as follows: Tefo Vumendini from Dr KK district and Hellen Nkoana from Bojanala obtained position one in Diketo Game. Tshepiso Naphakade and Patience Ntshingila from Dr Kenneth Kaunda got position one in Driestokkies. Dr K.K got position one on Kgati. The male team from Dr KK obtained position one in Khokho and the females from Bojanala team. Jukskei winners were Lazarus Masekoane from Dr RSM and Johanna Sekwele from Bojanala. Dr KK Males and Females teams scooped position one in Ncuva game. France Sehudugeng from Dr RSM and Elsie Chabangu both got position one in Morabaraba. All the selected participants are going to represent Bokonebophirima at Seshego Stadium in Polokwane from 24-29 September 2017.
